Tulane Disability and Access Coalition
My name is Kate Zelig and I am the President of the Tulane Disability and Access Coalition. We are hoping to expand our membership and reach students that are dedicated to improving accessibility, getting involved in disability advocacy, and interested in joining an inclusive community on Tulane’s campus.
The Tulane Disability and Access Coalition is an alliance of students, professors, and campus organizations to promote the equal participation and opportunity of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life. We operate to advocate for public policy that ensures autonomy, empowerment, and full inclusion for people with disabilities in areas such as healthcare, education, accessibility, housing, motor access, and civil rights. The work of self-advocates and allies is critical to the success of our organization. We strive to make our campus more accessible. We work together and brainstorm creative ideas that support individuals with disabilities, while also creating bonds, learning from each other’s experiences. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment of solidarity on Tulane’s campus for all students, including students with disabilities.
Participation or membership in this organization is nondiscriminatory and open to all students regardless of demographic identity.
